Saturday: Valentine & Marius
In 270AD, it was decreed by Emporer Claudius II that all engagaments and marriages were to be outlawed as he believed that love and loved ones were keeping his men from joining the army. However, there were two priests, Valentine and Marius, who were still secretly performing marriage ceremonies. On February 14th, Valentine was caught, but not before sending his own final love letter, signed 'From your Valentine'. Thank you to these two brave defenders of Love, forgive us for the red fluffiness your day has become.

Early this morning, the great Alexander McQueen was tragically found dead. As the fashion industry becomes more risk-averse and punctuated by commercial constraints, Mr McQueen was always more an artist than designer, allowing his creativity and imagination the freedom others could not express. Monday: A Single Man
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a fortune will either be a wanker or Mr-Colin-Firth-Darcy.
In Tom Ford's first cinematic project, the ever-handsome Mr Firth plays a closeted gay man who loses the love of his life and struggles with the ensuing grief. Whilst not the happiest of tales, it is a story of poignant loss and love, framed with the aesthetic beauty you would expect from Tom Ford. Worth seeing for the retro detailing and costumes. And of course, Mr Darcy.
